“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.”

The very essence of God Himself is miracle: doing the impossible using the simplest possibilities. The Christmas story is a series of miracles using simple people as the vehicle through whom God does glorious impossibilities.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.” And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus.”

A simple carpenter who worked with his hands, and his virgin betrothed who was just a simple teenager, chosen as the vehicles of God to show forth His miracle. Every miracle is a gift of God. In every miracle God gives He places the life of ongoing unfolding wonders. No miracle is capricious or without the dynamic to sustain ongoing divine events turning impossibilities into accomplished glories! What miracles does God have in store for you and your family this Christmas? Believe it when we say, He has one ready for you. And that is just the beginning. Your first Christmas miracle came wrapped in baby flesh and laying in a trough where animals were fed. He became the Bread of Heaven who feeds all mankind and redeems the whole of creation. Touch your hand and think of that first gift wrapping. Think for a moment of the simplicity of God’s glory. You are His dwelling place, wrapped in your skin once you welcome the Greatest Gift ever given: Christ in you the hope of glory!

The second Christmas miracle was deliverance more powerful than armies, and craftier than the jealous king seeking the babe to destroy him.

After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way. Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.” So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt. He remained there until the death of Herod to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “OUT OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON.” Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.”

Joseph’s simple faith was more than enough to outwit a cunning despot and make a way of escape from the raging fires of national genocide. Both times Joseph received God’s gift, first the gift of life and then the gift of deliverance, while he was doing nothing unusual. In fact he was sleeping in the same place, the same way he did every ordinary night! What intervention! What deliverance! What do you suppose God has planned for you? Perhaps even tonight while you are asleep.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

Miracles are the very nature of God Himself. His mightiest and most glorious miracle was accomplished in this very season many years ago in the giving of a gift, the incarnation of God as man in the form of a babe. He continues do show forth His wonders through the simple vessels who welcome Him into their hearts. Jesus is the heart of every Christmas miracle.

This Christmas there is a stirring, an awakening around the world. Hearts everywhere are turning to heaven in anticipation of miracles once again. And they will not be disappointed when the One they are seeking is the One wise men sought out long ago. Some of His miracles are still happening as we sleep. In the last half of this year we have recorded a dozen awakenings from coma through prayer made to the Lord of Glory, once a simple babe in Bethlehem Judea. Just this week another Christmas miracle: While I (Mahesh) was ministering in Austin, TX last week, I was given the name of a young girl that had been in a coma for some weeks. I prayed for her while we were in the atmosphere of glory in the meeting. As my hosts were driving me to the airport to fly back to Charlotte, they reported to me that the girl had awakened from her coma! This is yet another token of the Lord’s intention for this hour. He is awakening His Sleeping Beauties. He is awakening His Bride.
