What Mountain Are You Speaking From? Pt. 1
If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you (Mt. 17:20).
Mountains speak of high places—places of power and authority. Therefore, when we talk about moving mountains, it's not so much a matter of recognizing the mountain you are speaking to as it is realizing the Mountain you are speaking from!
Daniel served in three of the most powerful administrations of the ancient world. The leaders of those empires were not nice guys. They were dreadful, wicked, and did terrible things. But God had arranged for Daniel to serve in these “mountains” during Israel’s exile in Babylon.
Why was Daniel there? He had a mission that no one else could fulfill. As Daniel remained uncompromisingly in service of the God of Israel, he arose in ability and excellence. Kings and authorities soon began to confide in Daniel, leaning on his wisdom and counsel.
Daniel did not only move the natural mountains represented in these king’s hearts, but he moved supernatural mountains through his prayer and fasting. Principalities and heavenly administrations moved with his intercession. God unveiled these supernatural shifts to Daniel in a vision. Daniel sees a statue that represented all the great powers past, present, and future, that seemed to crush Israel under their boot. Then a stone cut without hands is flung out of heaven and there’s a dramatic change the destiny of those nations.
The stone is a living stone. A tried stone. A precious corner stone. The firstborn of many sons who will be the living stones of His house. In the vision that stone hits the feet of the mighty statue. The edifice crumbles, the dust flies, and the stone rises to become a mighty mountain filling the whole earth. It was the Mountain of the House of the Lord. It is God’s Kingdom, His Church. His glory will fill the earth as the waters cover the sea!
You are a living stone in that mountain. Therefore, you should always be living in a mountain top experience. John was incarcerated on the Island of Patmos. But his spirit was free. He was seated in heavenly place with the One who had authority over the nation that held him in shackles. While in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, the Lord said, “John, come up here.” He saw the throne that Daniel saw and the One sitting on it. That open Door is Jesus. Come up higher. If all you see is the craggy strongholds of the enemy on this earth, your reality may need to shift. Go through the Door, and look from the Mountain of the House of the Lord.
Elisha saw Elijah taken up in glory. As the mantle passed from spiritual father to son, another dimension opened and Elisha saw chariots of fire and horses, the hosts of heaven. So when he awoke one day to find himself surrounded by all the armies of Assyria, he didn’t fear. He was standing on the Mountain where there were more with him than against him, and prayed for his terrified servant, “Lord, open his eyes.” God wants to awaken your eyes to see every battle from Heaven’s perspective.
When Israel returned to the burned and pillaged rubble of her inheritance, God spoke to Zerubabbel, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts. Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubabbel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace” (Zech. 4:6-7). Those same pagan kings Daniel saw crumble into dust became the financiers and commissioners for the rebuilding of God’s Temple. When you speak from the Mountain of the Lord, every other mountain has to bow. Even your enemies will have to come into harmony with God’s song for your life and Creation.
LET GOD ARISE!
Like Daniel of old, you have been positioned with a mission as a watchmen in the sphere where God has planted you. Jesus said that the Kingdom of heaven is like a man who went on a far journey and said to his servants, “Occupy until I come” He intends for the Mountain that began to rise with His resurrection to fill the earth, beginning with you.
This week as we continue in our Let God Arise Prayer Relay, declare Jesus as Lord over the mountains that have taken up residence and occupied the territory that were founded on Judeo-Christian foundations: Our schools, our values, our economy, our culture, heritage, and government. Pray for God’s Mission Accomplished for your family, your church, your city, and for America!
“Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them” (Mk. 11:22-24).
