We are entering the New Year with a 21 Day Fast January 2 - January 23, 2008.

We invite you to join us in a corporate 21 Day Fast from January 2 – 23, 2008. You do not have to fast the entire 21 days, but may participate with us by taking a few days during the next weeks to fast and pray. After the fast ends we will continue to fast every Monday until the elections. I want to tell you that this year the election battles are going to get intense. That is why I am sensing that we start the year with a 21 day fast and reserve a longer fast for a later time in the election season.

The key to a corporate fast is that we humble ourselves before God and agree in prayer. There is power in agreement. We are specifically praying for the presidential elections: We are asking that God raise up the righteous and pull down the wicked – may He expose the lies and tricks of the media. We are asking for the Lord to raise up a Church of discernment that will judge by the anointing of the Holy Spirit rather than the devices and influence of the media. We are praying for a leader who will keep America strong so that we will continue to be a blessing to the nations and a strength and friend to Israel. We are also praying for revival in America. I believe that God is in the act of restoring our godly heritage and His church in this nation. Pray for His glory to invade in 2008. Pray for the breaking of the spiritual and natural drought in America--that the rains would fall and refresh and restore the drought-stricken south-eastern U.S.

When we fast we find that we receive a sharpened sense of our identity and God’s purpose in our life individually and corporately. We see this in Jesus’ life after He fasted for forty days. He went to the wilderness filled with the Holy Spirit, but He returned in the power of the Holy Spirit. Luke chapter 4 records that immediately after this fast, Jesus declared His identity, purpose and the power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill it: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” We are the inheritors of the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit. The believing Church of Jesus Christ is the steward of the power, the anointing and the miracle power of God. Each one of us has a unique place of influence in our job, our home and our community to speak the miracle power of God for others, for deliverance, for breakthroughs and for the harvest of souls.

As we give ourselves to the big things of God, He takes care of the smaller things in our lives. It is a kingly thing to do. God calls us a royal priesthood. We need to think like princes and princesses of the Most High God. This is what the Bible says about God’s people. No other group has the holy anointing oil of the Holy Spirit. This makes us humble. We are God’s servants to the nations, but inside our hearts is royalty. We are God’s royal representative, a peculiar people because we walk in the authority and power of God. As we humble ourselves in fasting and prayer for our nation, we make room for His glory to invade. So join us as we seek God with prayer and fasting in 2008. Matthew 6:31-33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.” This is the Word of God. It is for you, for the Church and for America. I believe that we are going to see the Church arise in the glory of the Lord and the power of His might as never before in 2008. The Church triumphant shall possess 2008!
