Weekly Watch Focus: Celebrate US Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

IsraeliFlag

FRIDAY, December 8, 2017—In a historic speech delivered at the White House on Wednesday, December 6, President Trump announced, “I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.” With this announcement, the United States became the first nation to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.

Psalm 122:6 tells us to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love You.’” Psalm 48 calls Jerusalem the “City of our God.” Jerusalem is close to the heart of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Thank the Lord that President Trump has so boldly aligned the United States with this city and God’s promises for Israel. As the Watch of the Lord, we pray divine protection and blessing for President Trump, Vice President Pence, their administration, and families. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and release angelic protection to watch over Israel and all those who stand with Israel around the world.

Part II: Urgent Call to Prayer: Southern California Wildfires

We continue to pray for the fires to cease in Southern California and Ventura County including the communities of Santa Paula, Camarillo, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Sylmar, and the other cities in the Los Angeles Area. Pray for the safety and restoration of this region. Stand in the gap and plead the blood of Jesus over this great state. Pray a hedge of protection for the people of California and bind back death and destruction. Pray that the winds die down and favorable weather comes to end what is already a very destructive fire. The fire has grown to 31,000 acres and has destroyed 150 structures. More than 27,000 people have evacuated and one person has died. Pray for the safety and success of the more than 1,000 fire-fighters who are working to bring the fires under control. Command the Santa Ana winds that have been blowing in speeds between 43 and 60 MPH to be still. Ask for the rains to come and quench these fires. We pray comfort for all who have lost loved ones, homes, businesses, and properties. We ask for a quick recovery for the areas destroyed. We pray for healing for those who have been injured.

Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

Joel 2:23-25, “Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully and He will cause the rain to come down for you—the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.”

2 Corinthians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our afflictions.”
2 Samuel 24:25b, “So the Lord heeded our prayers for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel.”

Zechariah 10:1, “Ask the LORD for rain in the time of the latter rain.  The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone.”

Psalm 23:4; Deuteronomy 31:6; Psalm 107:29
