Weekly Watch Focus: 70th Anniversary of the Birth of Israel
Friday, May 11, 2018—On Monday, May 14, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the rebirth of Israel. After 2,000 years of dispersion, God gathered Israel according to His promise, and on May 14, 1948, Israel proclaimed her statehood and was recognized by the majority of the nations. This truly was a sovereign and a fulfillment of Scripture. Let us continue to bless Israel and know that she is fulfilling the purposes of God according to Scripture. Let us continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem until she is established as a praise on the earth.
As of today, Iran has fired rockets from inside Syria, targeting Israeli forces defending the Golan Heights. Israel has retaliated, hitting Iranian targets, and the U.S. has stood with Israel’s right for self-defense. Pray for the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to protect His people, Israel. May He send forth His heavenly host to protect all Israelis and disrupt the plans of Iran. We pray no weapon formed against Israel shall prosper. May God give victory to the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). Thank the Lord that the United States is standing with Israel. May God confuse and pull down any plans of our leaders who would ally against Israel.
Part 2: Honor the Mothers
The Bible instructs us all to honor our parents. In fact, it is the first commandment with a blessing:
Exodus 20:12, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”
Ephesians 6:2, “‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise.”
This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day. Give thanks for our parents—specifically our mothers—and speak a blessing over them. Speak a blessing over all the mothers, both natural and spiritual, in your church and community. Take time this week to specifically communicate with your mother how she has blessed your life.
Society thrives when it embraces a culture of honor for elders and those in authority. Let us reject and repent of a culture that worships at the altar of youth, disdaining and disrespecting the wisdom and blessing of our elders. This same spirit of disrespect leads to disdain for our founding fathers and disregard for the unborn. As watchmen and intercessors release fresh blessings on all mothers. We also ask that mothers release fresh blessings on their children and grandchildren. May we also receive blessings in the church from all our spiritual mothers. May the Lord hear the cry of the mothers, and bring a season of healing broken relationships and restoration of families. Welcome the Holy Spirit, the great Comforter, to come and fill those empty places with His love, healing, and refreshing, making all things new.
Part 3: Pray for Hawaii
Last week the Kilauea volcano began to erupt, opening fissures in the surrounding area and releasing dangerous lava flows and poisonous gasses into the atmosphere. More than 36 structures have been destroyed by the flows, and 2,000 residents have been evacuated. The U.S. Geological society says that explosive eruptions could potentially impact the region with falling ash and boulders in the coming days. Pray for protection for the residents and homes of Hawaii Island, and for Shalom to come to the land. Bind back destruction. Pray for first responders who are monitoring the area.
Isaiah 11:11-13, "It shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left, from Assyria and Egypt, from Pathros and Cush, from Elam and Shinar, from Hamath and the islands of the sea. He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not harass Ephraim."
Jeremiah 16:14-16, "'Therefore behold, the days are coming,' says the Lord, 'that it shall no more be said, "The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt," but, "The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them." For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers. Behold, I will send for many fisherman,' says the Lord, 'and they shall fish them; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.'"
Psalm 122:6, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you.’”
Jeremiah 31:7,10; Ezra 36:22-28; Jeremiah 32:37-42, Zechariah 14:8-16
Malachi 4:5-6, “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
2 Timothy 1:5, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.”
Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Psalm 91:9-11, “If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the Lord, who is my refuge—then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
